Pioneering crowdsourced robotics platform enabling global remote operation of autonomous robots
CAYTU is a pioneering Senegalese robotics startup that is revolutionizing the global workforce through the world’s first crowdsourced teleoperation platform for autonomous robots. Founded in 2021 and based in Dakar, Senegal, CAYTU enables autonomous robots to be remotely operated by skilled pilots from anywhere in the world through an intuitive mobile application. The company’s innovative technology bridges the gap between remote digital outsourcing and onsite physical experience, enabling the distribution of hands-on expertise to distant geographic locations where they are needed most.
CAYTU’s robot-agnostic platform implements an AI-Human Collaborative Shared Control approach, putting the human touch at the center of robotics automation. Using their Android and iOS applications, anyone with a mobile phone can become a CAYTU pilot, teleoperating forklifts, delivery robots, hospitality bots, inspection drones, and agricultural machinery. The company’s software seamlessly integrates with any robotics hardware or application through their API, offering a true Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) solution that assists companies with task creation, robot assignment, deployment management, and fleet data analysis.
The startup has achieved significant milestones, including winning the prestigious Presidential Prize for Digital Innovation at The Digital Week-Senegal Connect in 2023, securing a $50,000 grant for growth. CAYTU has successfully piloted its technology at Brigham Young University (BYU) in the United States, where remotely operated delivery robots serve the campus food delivery needs, controlled by pilots in Dakar. With backing from investors including Wuri Ventures and Groupe Sonatel (Orange Senegal), CAYTU is creating new employment opportunities for Africa’s young and growing population while addressing critical labor shortages and automation needs across industries including logistics, agriculture, manufacturing, mining, construction, utilities, and hospitality.
